Adoption of unfair means in the examination is not
altogether a new phenomenon in our country. But it was not so widespread in the
past as it is today. Moreover when a student adopted unfair means in the
examination in the past. He felt ashamed of his misdeed.
Unfair means includes any sort of malpractice in or outside
the hall to succeed in the examination. In many cases the question. In many
cases the question paper is leaked out in advance. Answer script is submitted
from outside the hall. Many attempt to influence or bribe the person sent the concerned
to have the desired result.
Our social system is
full of defects. Old values regarding truth and justice are fast losing ground.
All are rushing after money, power and supremacy. The young generation is naturally
tempted by all these suicidal attractions.
Defective education system is anouter cause for malpractices
in the examination. A system adopted in the colonial regime can never be a
healthy one for a free and independent nation.
Examination is the criterion of judging the merit of the
students. Mere committing to memory and vomiting it in the examination halls
cannot determine the merit of a student.
The financial position of most of our students is not at all
sound. So they become impatient to have degrees as early as possible. They want
to get a job and relieve the family burden. This goads them on to adopt unfair
means in the examination.
The very system of education should be changed. A fresh and
mass-oriented education should be introduced. Books should be supplied in
abundance. The syllabus should be up to the ability of the students. Unplanned
setting up of educational institutions should be stopped. Education authorities
should see that proper education is imparted to the students. Unfair means in
and outside the hall must be checked with propriety and strictness.
Ours is a free nation. Education is the backbone of a
nation. We like to live with honor and dignity. For this ways and means must be
devised to check the naked practice of adopting unfair means in the
examination.
